Musical Improv! - A 4 week class

Stephen Foster Community Center 286 Main St. Pittsburgh, PA 15201

Do you enjoy the spontaneity of improv comedy and the sheer joy of musical theater? Thinking they just might go together to make something really special? Then you should join this introductory musical improv class! Together, we will learn about improvising songs on stage, developing basic vocal technique and musicality, and creating scenes that blossom into a killer song. And to show off your new skills, you and your classmates will perform a musical class show for your friends and family!

Before taking this class, you should have a solid grasp on the fundamentals of improv rooted in characters with strong emotional lives, as the techniques of musical improv build upon these crucial foundations.

Your instructor for this musical journey is Ryan Nuzzo. Ryan has over 8 years of experience in improv and sketch comedy including 5 years of teaching. He has coached 5 teams, two of which performed long-form musical improv, and he also serves as a musical improv accompanist. Trained at Steel City Improv Theater and Arcade Comedy Theater, Ryan has performed in too many comedy festivals to name, coached teams, and written and directed sketch shows.  If that wasn't enough, Ryan is also a musician with 20+ years of experience playing piano, guitar, electric bass, and drums.

Classes are held Mondays from 7 - 10 PM @ the Stephen Foster Community Center in Larwenceville.

Class dates are August 5, 12, 19, and 26.
