The La Ronde - Exploring Character Development, Relationship Dynamics, & Storytelling

Stephen Foster Community Center 286 Main St. Pittsburgh, PA 15201

In this six week class, you will learn La Ronde, a long form improv that seems deceptively simply.  The basic La Ronde consists of a series of two-character vignettes that eventually reconnect to form a complete circle of duos. However, to perform it well it requires players to master several key elements. Performers must maintain consistent character arcs throughout their two scenes, create believable relationships with different partners, contribute to the overall narrative structure, and work collaboratively with their ensemble.

This combination of skills makes La Ronde a demanding but rewarding form to master, as it challenges players to explore the depths of character development, relationship dynamics, storytelling, and ensemble playing.

Intended for intermediate to experienced improvisers, come learn the essence of the iconic form with comedic dynamo Tyler Ray Kendrick.

Class dates: Tuesdays: October 1, 8, 15, 29 & November 5, 12. No class October 22
